Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to demould concrete products and maintain moulds. It applies to timber, glass fibre, metal casing, latex rubber, plaster and other moulds.This unit applies to operators who are required to take responsibility for own outputs and follow established procedures to dismantle moulds; inspect moulds and products for faults; clean and reassemble moulds and maintain mould part stocks. Operators are also required to work autonomously and apply their own judgement to interpret information; monitor processes; identify and address routine and non-routine problems and control hazards. This unit applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team or group and in liaison with other shift team members, team leader and supervisor. No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Element: Dismantle, clean and inspect mould
  • Remove nuts and bolts as required

  • Identify product faults from visual inspection

  • Dismantle mould according to work instructions
  • Check condition of all mould parts
  • Clean mould parts
       
Element: Reassemble mould
  • Identify product to be made from specifications
  • Interpret mould drawings or plans
  • Select and check required mould parts
  • Use correct mould setup jig
  • Assemble mould
  • Place and fix reinforcement cage
  • Check cover is adequate and fix or report
  • Check mould dimensions and tolerance
  • Check mould for joint leakage and correct

Assessment Tasks
